What is Work Based Learning?
Simply put, Work Based Learning, or WBL, is where students from Waverly High School are strategically placed in business settings to learn skills that are crucial for success in the work place.
We have adopted the following definition of WBL: - Provide students with real-life work experiences where they can apply academic and technical skills and develop their employability. -WBL programs are targeted to bridge the gap between the learning and the doing |
What are the goals of WBL?
|
Goal 1: To provide on-the-job work experience
in order to create strong, successful employees. Goal 2: Engage students in real life work experience that relates to classroom learning. Let's get them off of Frederick Street and onto Main Street. Goal 3: Help students develop positive work habits, attitudes and interpersonal skills through realistic learning settings and establishment of soft skills. Goal 4: Help students develop future career goals by helping establish career likes and dislikes. Goal 5: Improve workforce stability by linking students and employers that would encourage them to remain in the Greater Valley! |
